(A)  The first being your wood type selection. Questions such as whether you will be painting or staining will factor into your decision. Each type of wood has its own characteristics and may be more suitable for use in certain situations or conditions. Research the composition and traits of each wood type to achieve the best result. We use only Hardwoods - Ash, Red Oak, White Oak, Cherry, Walnut, Hickory, Mahogany & Poplar.

* Keep in mind that most custom door companies do not finish (paint or stain) their products. Instead they are prepped, sanded, and sent to you for finishing. There are two main reasons for this. EPA regulations are such that a small fortune would need to be spent for shop setup and material disposal. The other being, suppose you ordered several doors, asked for a light brown stained finish, and upon receiving them you discovered that you did not like the color! With a little study,experimentation, and work you should have no problem staining your doors to a beautiful finish.
